Conference on Digital Archiving
An international conference on Digital Archiving on best practices in digital archiving of community knowledge with special focus on electronic and multimedia database management , with keynote presenters drawn from national and international academic and other institutions, was held in New Delhi from 15th to 18th December 2010.
The primary objective of the conference was to identify best practices in digital documentation, archiving and database management for academic and other agencies worldwide, and share this among participants. This task was executed in collaboration with the World Oral Literature Program, Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology, University of Cambridge. The intention of the conference has been to promote technological innovation in developing such databases, and to develop the 'How and What' behind operating guidelines for a multimedia digital archive, at Ambedkar University Delhi and elsewhere.
The conference served to conceptualize the activities that could flesh out the Ambedkar University Delhi's Digital Repository, as well as work out the technical back-end that will make this happen. The topics of discussion also covered the possibilities of building the archive collaboratively with communities, developing a methodology of community centered collection, and designing a multimedia digital archive.
